Soda floats and catching up with Amy – she was in town for her Masters graduation. What a smartie.

It’s often hard to tell where the mural ends and the graffiti begins.

Sun and haze across Wellington harbour.

I hate this sign. So damn hard.

Thursday
New specs arrived from BonLook. They packed the box with glitter. Opening that at my desk was … an experience.

Friday
At certain times of the day Wellington is really quite pretty.

Saturday
Craig and I drove to the bright lights of Foxton for second-hand furniture shopping. I resisted buying these old western novels and also a Nelly Furtado vinyl.

Saturday
First day at the #levinloveinn Mansion House.

Sunday
Rainy day in the Mansion House – people, not I, played Game of Game of Thrones.

Monday
The last day of 2012 was sunny and bright. Laura took up residence on the swing chair in the shade. It was kind of perfect.

2012 ended in a tangle of my favourite people – the Levin Love Inn was everything I had hoped it would be and more. I’ll share more photos from that in a little bit. But first.

A few years ago I resolved to stop making resolutions so I don’t really have any of those to share. I also find that reminiscing over the past year is kind of the worst thing ever (that part of #levinloveinn was SO much fun).

I am, however, easy-on-myself resolving to be more fiscally responsible, and to maybe, perhaps, run a 5k.

Sunday
I made, ate, and uploaded the recipe for marshmallow-hot-chocolate-candy-cane-coco-pop treats.

Monday
Boredom and almost too much time on my hands and the end of the year and all of a sudden I was bleaching the end of my hair? I’m not sure how that happened either.

Tuesday
I’m doing Bard in the Yard again! I’m playing Maria in Twelfth Night!
The night of the first read through was soft with heavy fog.

Wednesday
Annual Mulligan holiday season trip to the Kirk’s Christmas shop.

Thursday
Pretty flowers in green bins on Cuba Street.

Friday
Flying to Auckland for Christmas, darling Craig was already getting in the spirit of the season… accidentally of course.

Saturday
We escaped the North Shore almost immediately and headed for the city & the Art Gallery.

Sunday
I think Auckland is just messing with me – the weather is pretty much always rubbish when I hope for it to be good. Though I know from … friends and the news and everything that the weather up there is purportedly quite good. MESSING WITH ME.

Monday
It didn’t feel very Christmassy for whatever reason. So Craig and I bought bits to make gingerbread cookies and then we watched Die Hard 1.
Christmas traditions.

Tuesday
Craig’s family are big into their family photos. It takes quite a lot of time.

Wednesday
My family are more into just taking photos of each other hanging out.
(We made it back from Auckland to spend Boxing Day with my family)

Thursday
My flatmate, ladies and gentleman, is the kind of guy who will buy 3 kilos of gummi bears just because. You’re jealous, I know.

Friday
Today Craig and I took our Christmas tree down for yet another year.
I wonder where we’ll be spending Christmas in 2013.

Who knows.

Oh oh! Tomorrow Craig and I are heading off to Levin to spend New Years with friends in a fabulous villa with a wood fired pizza oven. It should be fantastic. But I shan’t have proper internet access so it might also be the worst thing ever.

Sunday
Craig was searching the toy section for a present for a friend’s new baby.

Monday
I didn’t choose the scablife, the scablife chose me.
(my Rose Hardy tattoo was healing nicely)

Tuesday
Heading into the last House sitting weeks of the year. Everyone was exhausted.

Wednesday
Oh Wellington, early summer is always so rainy.

Thursday
The bookshop at the bottom of Bowen House at Parliament is shutting up shop. The closure of bookshops always makes me sad.

Friday
Started to see Christmas parties around the city. It’s the season.

Saturday
I love these buildings in upper Cuba street. They’re slightly falling apart but I adore it.

Sunday
We drove around to Eastbourne for an audition and spent the afternoon sitting in the sun by the sea.

Monday
Late Sunday night a girl in our building had forgotten her swipe card but it was so late and our buzzer doesn’t work anyway. Then on Monday morning the front door was smashed. I hoped they were unrelated – especially since it wasn’t completely shattered so getting in that way wouldn’t have worked.

Tuesday
Our flatmate went on a road trip to Palmerston North and brought back a lot of soda.

Wednesday
12:12 on the 12th of the 12th.
I couldn’t resist.

Thursday
The afternoon after the Press Gallery party. All I wanted to do was go home and sleep. But I had a Grimes show to get to.

Friday
Arriving home from Grimes just after midnight with Christmas lights the only illumination.

Saturday
Rude gnomes at WORLD.

Laura and I flew back into Wellington on a weeny little plane.

Monday
It’s not exactly apparent why Snoop ~~Dogg~~ Lion is shilling for Adidas.

Tuesday
Heading home after a no-good very-bad day.

Wednesday
The World Premiere of The Hobbit was at the end of our street – apart from peering at the red carpet in the morning I missed it entirely.

Thursday
I flew up to Auckland, stayed in a hotel, and ended up with an amazing tattoo.

Friday
See! Auckland! I spent two days there. It was lovely. More anon.

Saturday
Back at home for the first of December.

It’s getting warm enough in the evenings now to sit outside before Sunday night dinners with my family.

Monday
Dragged my Underground Creepers to work, I was, of all things, modelling for a magazine.

This sculpture, though I am ambivalent about rugby, is quite awe-inspiring.

Our flatmate came home from weeks in America and brought me minty treats.

I was so busy with work and making Ambrosia for a thanksgiving feast I almost forgot to take a photo.

Great friends and amazing food. Any excuse, really.

2013 calendars all over the place. The end of the year is nigh.

Annoying springtime. It may be quite sunny but it’s still damn cold.

There are stone spirals outside the Supreme Court. I wonder who put them there.

Broken umbrella. Classic Wellington.

Friday
Owls! I like these Christmas decorations in a store along Lambton.
(I can’t wait until I can put my tree up!)

In the office on a Saturday, someone pointed out how ‘The Shining’ these corridors appear in the half light.

Sunday
Remember, remember, the fifth of November. But it was the fourth. Our family still let off a few fireworks. It’s a thing.

Monday
Then on the actual fifth of November a group of friends met at a house in Oriental Bay and braved the rain to watch the public fire works for Guy Fawkes.

Tuesday
At the height of my wanderlust I get postcards from far away friends. I die of jealousy.

Wednesday
We have a new sculpture on the waterfront in Wellington. They look like mint green sea doughnuts but they are actually kina.

Thursday
I spent Wednesday afternoon watching election coverage and then arguing with grouchy republicans on Twitter. Despite not actually being American or living in America a few Republicans apparently think my friend Laura and I are what is wrong with America.

Friday
Annual fire alarm checks at our apartment. I had to hang around the apartment until the little old man came to check our place.

Saturday
I spent most of the day cooking pulled pork. It takes 6 hours but it is so worth it.

Same old story.

I coveted these wolf-face flats until I noticed they are called the Jacob. Ick.

Creepy orange light on the way home from work.

Friday
I was invited to Rajeev’s stag do – we rented Time Cinema in Lyall Bay, ate fried chicken & ribs then watched two of Rajeev’s short films and also Blazing Saddles.
